Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 pound potatoes cleaned
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  • Clean the potatoes well.
  • Pour the water into the base of the inner pot. Set the trivet or a steamer basket in the Instant Pot. Put the potatoes in the basket.
  • Lock the lid and set the vent to sealing (if necessary for your model).
  • Press the Pressure Cook button and set the time to 6 minutes on high pressure for baby potatoes, 10 minutes for medium, and 20 minutes for large.
  • When done, allow a 5-10 minute release of the pressure. The pin will likely go down somewhere in between this. Open the lid and remove the potatoes.
  • Serve hot with salt and any other seasoning or toppings you desire.

Notes

  • Choose any type of potato you prefer, but keep in mind that the cooking time will depend on the size of the potato.
  • Cook as many potatoes as you like at a time, but don’t fill the Instant Pot past the max line. It fits about 5 pounds of potatoes.
  • Small potatoes require a 6 minute cook time. If you're using very small potatoes, a steamer basket is recommended.
  • Larger potatoes require a 2-minute cooking time. If you plan on mashing the potatoes, add an extra 5 minutes of cook time.
